1. How do I navigate through the binder?

2. What grades or age levels can I use Breezin’ Thru Theory with?

Breezin’ Thru Theory is designed to support the music curriculum needs of Grades 7 to 12, Advanced Placement Level 1, and to assist in the preparation of Royal Conservatory of Music theory exams (Prelim, Grade 1 and Grade 2). In some arts enriched programs/ schools there may be some Grade 5 or 6 classes who are ready to use Breezin’ Thru Theory. With 26 chapters and over 200 drills and 15 composition activities, Breezin’ Thru Theory is designed to give you maximum flexibility as a teacher. Choose what’s right for your students and program, it also allows for individualized learning – remedial or enriched.


3. Who pays for the annual subscription, my students or the school?

Orders for Breezin’ Thru Theory are placed by schools, boards, or districts. Depending on your school or situation you may choose to cover the total cost of the subscription order (through your music dept. or IT budget) or you may wish to pass on the charge to your students for the $8 annual subscriber fee, as you would for other school materials or supplies. It’s whatever works best for you. Either way the school looks after the purchase order.


4. What computer skills and equipment do I need to have?

The great feature about Breezin’ Thru Theory is that you can use it with either paper or computers, it’s your choice. So in situations where you don’t have access to a MIDI lab or computers in your classroom, you can just download the drills and exercises that you want to use from the online binder and print & go. To access the online binder you’ll need a computer and internet access.
For those situations where you wish to use Breezin’ Thru Theory with your students on the computer, you’ll need one of the following music notation software applications installed on your computer: Sibelius, Finale or Finale Notepad.


5. I don’t have regular access to a computer lab with my students;
should I still consider subscribing?

Absolutely. One of the great features about Breezin’ Thru Theory is that you can use it with paper or computers, it’s your choice. So when you’re in the lab with your students then use it with your computers, and when you’re not, just print out the drills/exercises and have your students to do them at their desk.  Both ways, it’s fun and effective.


6. How do I download the files?

It’s easy. First, sign onto the online binder and find the drills or activity that you wish to use with your students. On the left hand page, choose the file format that you want: Sibelius, Finale, or PDF. Click on the icon, and it’ll download to your computer. You can save it or simply print and go.

7. What versions of Sibelius and Finale will it work with?

Sibelius 5 and up;    Finale 2008 and up; Finale Notepad 2008 and up.

8. Will it work with Finale Notepad?    Yes


9. Can I access the online binder/materials from home or just from school?

You can access the online binder from any computer that has an internet connection, whether it’s from school, home or anywhere else. Just go to the Breezin’ Thru Theory website and log on with your subscriber’s password.


10. Can my students access the materials to do homework?

Yes. There are two ways to do this. Students can be assigned a special username and password so they can access the student version of the online binder from home or you can email your students the files (drills/ activities) that you want them to work on. Either option is easy to do and you’ll have your students Breezin’ Thru Theory in no time!
